Overnight stops on the Blue Cross represent some of the best parts of the experience. Yes, you are weary, hungry and ready for a wash and bed, but sundowner time is as essential as breathing in Zimbabwe. No matter if your tipple is tea or Tequila, milk or Martini, water or wine,  we treasure that time when the evening chorus of birds provides the soundtrack to the setting of the sun. Work is not over until the last participant and seconder is seated, and you get the chance to talk through how the day went, and what to expect on the next leg of the Event. Some camps are randomly situated in a spot chosen perhaps for a pretty stream or a particular tree, and some happen to be in small towns on the route. In Chipinge, we are hosted at the impressive Fiddlers on The Green Polocrosse Club. You can pre-order your meal, which is a godsend. In Chimanimani, you can choose from a number of  delightful lodges, cottages, campsites and hotels. You will not be disappointed if you even stay an extra night. In Mutare, we have organized that any groups can camp at the Hillside Sports Club. Hot showers and a delicious meal (pre-ordered) will be available to you.The Deck of the Club has one of the best views in the city, and the birding is outstanding there. The first night of the whole Blue Cross could be the best of the route, if you treat yourself to one of the amazing options offered by Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge. And the last night in Nyanga at the National Parks  Camps, or again any hotel or privately owned cottage will be so important for the wind down after you have completed an Ultra Distance event that should be on everyone's bucket list. It's unique, and fun, remote and lovely beyond words.  The athletes that do the whole distance unassisted  make a plan en route, but for the rest, the cyclists, the horseriders, the relay walkers, there is the option to meet at predetermined locations, not official campsites remember,  and to camp in the company of other participants.
